Over two years ago, myself and Jakey lobbied Philip into allowing us to maintain Histacom as he did for another team for his other game: ShiftOS. A few days later, I was able to get Philip's permission to open-source the Histacom code base, under the Apache 2.0 License. However given a week or so of cleanups, we realised that maintaining the VB.Net code base was not going to be a long term solution. It was at this point, that we decided a rewrite was going to be required. And the rest is history, as they say (or rather drama in our case).
Earlier this year, I became aware of a rewrite of Histacom currently lead by ALR Games. As our efforts didn't get anywhere, I would like to formally give their team our support, and to recommend giving their rewrite a look.
tl;dr: ALR Games have done what we failed to do, check them out
