Modding Rocky Legends
#1
So I've been spending some time recently with modding Rocky Legends, how each file works, the model directory, etc. I've found some pretty cool stuff so sit back and enjoy this text. No tl;dr either (I 404'ed that beast! Tongue ). This will be going on TCRF soon as well.

First off, the PS2 version.

(*) I've managed to find some placeholder images. One such example is the training background being marked as "placeholder".
(*) Ludmilla Drago is not in the PS2 version, however I've managed to find her render, as well as her portrait for Knockout Tournament. Going by these two things, I wouldn't be surprised if her model is on the disc as well, and could potentially load as well.
(*) I've found a LOT of 3D renders that go unused. Strangely, they are marked with black "III" on each boxer's chest. They must have been scrapped at the last minute.
(*) Some leftover images from the game's prequel, Rocky, is found on the disc. Just simple "coin" images. Interestingly, there does exist an image for Clubber Lang in this style.
(*) Some renders are never used for models on the disc. For example, there is a render for Rocky, that is presumably meant for his match with Joe Zale. It goes unused, however.
(*) I've also found some unused audio for Rocky V (name/weight/location), as well as unused bio audio. The bio audio would imply that it was once possible to play as Tommy Gunn in Career Mode, before being scrapped.
(*) Placeholder images exist for the HUD...

Quite a lot of stuff, eh? About the Xbox version, so far, I've only found Paulie's (exclusive to the PS2 version) textures as well as model, however I'm having difficulty finding anything else due to the od compression. For example, the audio on the PS2 version uses MSV (compressed wav file, upon looking at it in a hex editor. I can't seem to extract it without PSound), whereas the Xbox version uses .xba. I can't find anything on this file extension.

Rocky Legends is incredibly customizable looking at the metadata text files. Here's one such example from a file called "CUTAUDIOAISETTINGS":

On my quest to mod Rocky Legends (title's been changed), I edited one of the metadata files for Ivan Drago's stats via a hex editor, changing them all to 99. Sadly, it had no effect ingame. I think it would be easier to mod one of the anthems (as the game calls it), but how would I be able to inject the new file? Just like the main (.MFS) archive, it can be extracted with software. Does anyone have any ideas? The anthems are wav files upon looking at them in HxD (that's why PSound can extract them), however the actual file that contains the wav is a MSV file.

Hi, where can I download these Rocky Legends mods? I'm new to this, but I'm very interesting.
